Welcome to Ash Class
In Ash Class we are settling into life as Juniors. We have 27 keen to learn pupils who are being taught by our talented teacher, Miss Brown and Miss Hunter our lovely Teaching Assistant.
What have we been up to?
Our current topic is Volcanoes. We have made our very own volcanoes and have started to understand how volcanoes are formed.
In English, we have been reading a legend story called When the Giant Stirred. We have thought about how the characters must have felt when their village was destroyed by the volcano eruption. We will be creating our own volcanic island ready to retell the legend.
In Maths, we are starting to look at place value by reading, writing and ordering numbers. We have then used our knowledge to compare numbers. We will begin to use written methods to solve addition and subtraction problems, including column addition and subtraction. Times Table Rock Stars will be used weekly for homework, so please support your children accessing this each week.
In line with the new homework policy, Ash class will have a selection of English and Theme homework activities that need to be completed over the half term. Homework is due in at the end of the half term. The children will also be practising their times tables on a weekly basis and using Bug Club to support readers at home.
Spelling homework will continue to follow a two week cycle based on an investigation and a list of spelling words to practise for week.
