Intent
At Coupe Green our aim is to provide a Modern Foreign Language curriculum which inspires pupils’ curiosity to know more about the world. We believe that learning a language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils and helps develop a deeper understanding of different cultures beyond the school. Our ambition is to sow the seeds for a life-long love of language learning and provide the building blocks children require as they continue to develop their understanding of different languages in the future.
Following the National Curriculum we aim for all of our pupils to:-
- understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources
- speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation
- can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt
- discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied.
